    <title>Mar 22, Big Changes for THUMB</title>
    <link>http://www.thethumbshow.com</link>
<description>Hi all. Julian here. It&#39;s a strange old world we live in. Despite my best efforts to clear the way for me to be able to &#39;gift&#39; money to our schools, the system has found ways to effectively discourage me from doing it.

Let me be VERY CLEAR that these changes are not down to any individuals. It&#39;s simply the system at work.

There is too much to try and explain. The short of it is that &#39;gifting&#39; money to schools causes a potential auditing problem. Schools are busy places and don&#39;t need potential problems, so much so that they are actually discouraged from booking the THUMB program. Strange huh?

So, The THUMB Program has permantly suspended giving 20 of the admission price back to schools. The yearly THUMB Award of $5000 has been removed. All schools currently booked under these arrangments have been notified and offered options as to how they can proceed.

BUT not to be defeated, THUMB has taken a new approach.

The shows themselves have changed little except the emphasis is now on Making a Difference WITHIN your school rather than outside your school. The overall theme is helping students make GOOD CHOICES. To assist schools in improving behaviour standards, the THUMB show provides &#39;Encouragement Packs&#39; full of posters, stickers, drink bottles, etc that can be used as &#39;rewards&#39; to encourage students to keep on making good choices long after the shows have been at the school.

Please check out the updated website for full details.

Thanks for listening,
Julian</description>
