THUMB Program FAQ

Is our school locked into the 4 year cycle?

No. You only book one year at a time. If you like the show and the benefits for your school then book another show.

Are there restrictions on the type of project our school undertakes?

No. You have total freedom to run whatever type of project you like. You can spend the money how you see fit. There is no system of checking. The money is there to give you the much needed opportunity for authentic teaching and learning. The T.H.U.M.B show alone fulfils our mission to strengthen respect, resilience and responsibility in our young people. From here on it is YOUR vision that determines the magnitude of your project.

Can we split the shows into two different days?

The short answer is no. If you do have a genuine scheduling problem please talk to us and we will try to find a solution.

There are some families who cannot afford to see the show. What can we do?

If the school is unable to address this situation please contact us. The messages contained in these shows and benefits from them are for everyone.

Do you want our students to energetically interact during the performance?

Yes. Our performers are experts at controlling large excited audiences. The routines are structured with high energy spots interspersed with quiet listening moments. General manners and respect are all that are necessary for a great show.

Will repeat visits of the shows become boring for the students?

No. Each show has the same core message but it is approached from a different angle and performed with completely new and varied routines. No two shows are the same. Think of it as waiting for a new release from your favourite band. There is something about them that keeps you wanting more. The shows speak for themselves. The benefits to your school speak for themselves. Your gut feeling will tell you whether repeat visits are right for your school.

We are a small school. Will you visit us?

Small schools do provide a challenge. Anything under a hundred families and the finances don’t add up. We are very aware of the de-centralised nature of Queensland and particularly the difficulties faced by regional and remote schools. This is problem we are keen to find solutions to. There ARE options that may work. Please contact us and let’s take it from there.

Is the T.H.U.M.B program associated with any religious organization?

No. The T.H.U.M.B philosophy page clearly explains the underlying motivations. A further link from there gives a very detailed background to the whole T.H.U.M.B story.

Can we video the show?

No. This is to protect an ENORMOUS amount of effort that has gone into making T.H.U.M.B. The performer will have to interrupt the show to politely ask any video recording to stop. This is very disruptive to the core messages being delivered. Any time lost to addressing video recording has to be taken off the show content to keep the shows running at their allotted time. Thank you for your co operation.

Can we take photos?

Yes. Go crazy. We will advise you of any key moments in the show that make great school publicity photos. We are happy to do any set up shots after the performance. Just let us know so we can factor in some time.
